Everything you need to download Graph Plotter, install it, and start creating charts from your spreadsheets.
Getting Started
- Create an account (or log in).
- Open your Dashboard and click Download Graph Plotter.
- Install & launch the desktop app.
- Open your Excel file (.xlsx/.xlsm/.xls), create charts, and export as PNG.
If you’re already logged in, go straight to your Dashboard to download the latest installer.
Download & Install
Download
The Graph Plotter desktop app is downloaded from your account dashboard. You must be logged in to access the download.
Install
- Windows: run the installer or ZIP file you downloaded and follow the prompts.
- If Windows shows a security warning, click More info → Run anyway. This is common for early or unsigned builds.
Launch
After installation, open Graph Plotter from your desktop or start menu. The app will automatically check for updates when it launches.
Make Your First Plot
- Open Graph Plotter on your computer.
- Open an Excel file (.xlsx, .xlsm, or .xls).
- Select the data you want to plot (columns / ranges).
- Choose a chart type (line, bar, scatter, etc.).
- Export your chart when ready.
Tip
Keep your sheet clean: one header row, consistent number formats, and avoid merged cells if possible.
Updates
Graph Plotter automatically checks for updates when the desktop app starts. If a newer version is available, it will be downloaded and installed for you.
If the app reports “No updates available”, it usually means:
- You are already running the latest version.
- No newer version has been released yet.
- Your network is blocking access to the update server.
Update integrity
Updates are verified before installation to ensure the downloaded files have not been modified or corrupted.
Accounts & Billing
You can manage billing from the website:
- Pricing page: choose a plan and subscribe.
- Billing portal: manage your subscription after checkout. :contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6}
Troubleshooting
I can’t download the app
- Check you’re logged in: downloads are only available from your account dashboard.
- Rate limiting: if you see “Too many requests”, wait a minute and try again.
- Button not responding: refresh the page and try again.
Updates aren’t working
- Restart the app: close Graph Plotter completely and reopen it to trigger a new update check.
- Network issues: make sure you have a stable internet connection and no VPN or proxy blocking traffic.
- Restricted networks: if you’re on a work or school network, try a different connection.

Customising Your Chart
Every chart in Graph Plotter can be styled via the Customise dialog, accessible from the menu bar. Changes apply live to the chart with no need to re-plot.
What you can change
- Per-series colours: pick a colour for each series individually, or apply one colour to all at once.
- Line thickness (Line Chart only): adjust from 0.5 px to 8 px.
- Font size: scale all chart text from 6 pt to 20 pt.
- Axis range limits: set manual min/max for X and Y axes (Line, Scatter, Bar, Histogram, Efficient Frontier).
- Legend position: upper right, upper left, lower right, lower left, best-fit, or hidden.
Styles save with your project
All style settings are stored inside your .gpplot.json project file. When you reload the project, your chart will look exactly the same. This is useful for weekly reports where you update data but keep the same visual style.
Tip
Styles are per chart type. Your Line Chart style settings are stored separately from your Bar Chart settings. Switching chart types won't overwrite your other styles.
Multi-Series Compare Pro
Multi-compare mode lets you overlay up to three independent data series on the same chart. Each series is selected separately and can come from different columns or sheets in your workbook.
Supported chart types
- Line Chart
- Scatter Plot
- Bar Chart
How to use it
- Open your data file and select your first series as normal.
- In the sidebar, enable Multi-Compare mode.
- Select your second and third series from the additional dropdowns.
- All series are plotted together on the same axes with auto-assigned colours.
Common use cases
- Year-over-year comparisons (e.g. 2022, 2023, 2024 on the same line chart)
- Portfolio vs two benchmarks on a scatter plot
- Budget vs actual vs forecast as grouped bars
- Three customer segments or product lines side by side
Requires Pro plan
Multi-compare is available on the Pro plan. See pricing.
